Exploring Urban Detroit

More like Technical issue extravaganza! First, my phone fizzled out, and then my camera almost died. But we prevailed.

       Today my boyfriend and I went driving around a couple of neighbourhoods around Detroit. To photograph a few for a future project.

-Hamtramck

-Indian Village

-And Corktown to name a few....

     I'm planning on painting a series of Detroit suburban homes, just the houses themselves, and play with the negative space and the shapes of the pieces. I'll probably add a few little creatures here and there, lord knows I love myself a critter or two.

      It was very fun to see the gorgeous architecture that our city holds! And once held, a lot of the buildings are in ill repair and need some TLC, but the structure is strong and the shape of what it once still stood. The culture is rich and the paint was bright. Although it was a rainy day, the houses were still gorgeous. I will definitely go back to try to catch these beauties in a better light, maybe a sunset, or a nighttime scene...
